I'm looking to replace my 10-year old Fiesta with a slightly newer hatchback, plus I need an automatic car. I've been looking at the Mazda 3 and the Hyundai i30 as two possible choices (around the 2009 mark). I've never driven an i30 but a friend has one and says they are very good. I've had a Mazda 3 as a rental car once and found it to be excellent to drive and very economical, used not even half a tank of fuel from Wellington to Napier. Which one of these cars is the best option for me (or are there any other cars I should consider)? And are there any issues with any of these cars I need to be wary of?

Hi there,
Both these cars are good choices.
However I know more about the Mazda 3. Currently one of the popular hatcbacks around.
Real value for money. I'm not aware of any problems to advise you about.
I would try and make sure what ever car you look at has 2 keys. As a second key can be expensive to replace.
A pre purchase inspection and history check is also recommended. This will check for
money owing if the car has already been used in NZ.
