I've been looking for a mid-range hatchback, reliable with lots of space and looking to spend $6-8000. I do a lot of 30-60min trips in the rural Waikato. I really like the shape and space of a Honda Fit, 2004-2006, and its fuel efficiency, but have been put off by the concerns about the CVT transmissions. However I've found a few manual transmissions - looking at a 2004 1.5L Fit for $7000 - are these reliable long term? I'd be looking to hold on to it for at least 5-6 years.
Other options I've looked at are Corolla RunX/Allex, but they dont seem as fuel efficent - any other good suggestions?
