Hi Jack
I contacted you some time ago about updating my car, you put us onto a Mazda6 wagon and we have had a great run out of it. However now time for a change. I am looking at a second hand SUV, really like Hyundai ix35. I am after a 4 wheel drive, petrol or diesel which can tow a lightweight caravan. One particular vehicle I have my eye on is 2013 with 42000 on the clock. Unfortunately I have been put off by some overseas forums, regarding brake and rotor wear plus problems with build quality. Not sure if this is just regarding overseas mainly UK builds. What are your views.

Kind regards

Garry

Hi Garry,
I havn't heard any bad things about the ix35, and I have friends who just bought one and love it. Overseas forums are a very mixed bag, and can often create more confusion.
Other options could be a Mazda CX5, or Nissan Qashqai/ Dualis, maybe even a Subaru Forester or XV.

Hi
Many thanks, I was hoping you would say that.

Hi, I missed out on the ix35, however have found a very nice 2012 Honda CRV, 49,000 km. It is 4wd and has the 2.4 petrol engine. Slightly smaller than the ix35 and rides very nice. Is this a good option for touring and occasionally towing a single axle 2 berth caravan? It appears to have very good reviews.

Hi there, these are also a great choice. Towing weight looks to be 1500kg braked, so small caravan shouldn't be a problem. Fuel consumption is 8.7ltrs per 100km combined city and highway driving.
