Hi there, I am looking at a new vehicle and as I travel 25 kms each way daily over big Dunedin hills (Mt Cargill in fact) in icy and snowy winter conditions, I would like a fuel efficient and safe car. Are diesels significantly cheaper to run? And are they worth their greater initial cost? And are AWD or 4WDs safer on winter roads?
I have been looking at a late model BMW diesel X1 4WD but for the same price I could buy a new Subaru Impreza AWD petrol... Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated ????
