I'm looking at a Toyota Raum 1496cc. It's mainly for me to drive our three teenagers around. Often it will be just two of us but if there are four of us in the car ( and on occasions 5) do you think it will have enough power and oomph if we're going up hills?

Fully laden, the engine may struggle a bit on the hills.
You may want to consider an 1800cc to try and get the best of both worlds, a little more power while not using too much more fuel.
