I'd like a 7 seater for under $10k. Comparing the Mazda Premacy to the Toyota Ipsum I'm leaning towards the Premacy because at least I can be sure it won't have CVT.

Is this logic sound, and is there another factor as or more important?

Thanks.

Hi there,
Both are very popular choices, the Ipsum doesn't seem to have a cvt listed for any models.
The only engine combination I would try to avoid would be the 2AZ-FSE 2.0 ltr direct injection. These engines have been known to have a few problems.

Thanks Cade.

Hi Cade,

the Honda Stream is now in the mix - my wife prefers its appearance.

I understand that the 2.0 litre has CVT but the 1.7 litre doesn't. Is that correct?

Is there anything else to avoid with this car, or anything else I need to consider when comparing to the Premacy and Ipsum.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
The Honda Stream also is a very good choice, maybe even better than the other two options. Yes the 1.8 seems to have a conventional transmission which makes them sought after. Just the usual, may need a band expander to get NZ radio stations and see if you can get two keys if possible.

Thanks again Cade.
