Hi, I am currently driving a 1998 Toyota Tercel with 290K, still driving well, which makes me a fan of High-km-Toyotas, however it's looking a bit old so I was thinking of buying a new car, but there's no hurry.
Top contenders at the moment are:
A 2008 Toyota Corolla GLX, 1798cc, 222K, and appears to have been driven long distance commute and regularly serviced. Price is via auction, between $5900-$6900.
Or a Honda Civic S 2007, being sold because owner got company car. 1799cc, 85000km. Price $9000 ono. Both have a timing chain.
I drive around 8K per year, so I am wondering if it's fine if I managed to buy the high km Toyota for 6K, or am I better off spending $3000 more for a car that's one year older but has only done a quarter of the mileage?
I am leaning towards the Toyota, and spend the money I save on potential repairs. But everyone is telling me low km is the way to go...
Would appreciate your opinion.

Hi there,
Tough choice as both cars are good options, with good transmission and engine combinations. However the Corolla is only a 4-speed auto, where as the Civic has 5 so may drive a little better.
I would recommend choosing a vehicle with the lowest km's possible, (85k over 222k).
