Hi,

We'd like to buy a new suv - we're looking at a 2013 Toyota RAV, a Ford Escape and a Suzuki Grand Vitara. Safety, fuel economy and elevation are important. We live rurally, so not a lot of running-about-town. We travel long distances and do quite a lot of driving. We also have a big dog!

Research tells us the RAV is better as far as mechanical quality and reliability go.

Thoughts please?

From the 3 listed, my pick would definitely be the Rav. They do seem to be a good value for money vehicle with reasonable running costs.
Also another good vehicle on the market is the Mazda CX-5, might be worth a look.
