I have a holden barina TM sedan, automatic, which is less than 2 years old ( purchased october 2012) from schoffields. I have been noting that the car gives me only 10.3-10.5 Km/L. I am not a rough driver or anything and i have also checked the fuel consumption with AC off and correct tyre pressures and this hasent changed. with the nature of my job, i rarely drive during peak traffic hours. When i wrote to the service department, they said using an higher octane petrol might help, but that hasent helped either! I was wondering if there could be a technical problem with the car, like tuning or something. Kindly, can you tell me if this is the normal fuel economy for these sort of car. Thanks heaps.

This model isn't the most fuel efficient in its class, with a claimed combined cycle figure of 7.3L/100km, so expect real world figures to be higher than that, then if most of your driving is around town (ie; not mixed cycle), it will be higher still.
The other factor is the mileage travelled daily. If the car is used for short, cold runs the economy figure will suffer.
While your fuel consumption figure (which equates to around 9.5L/100km) seems very high for a small car, it's possible that there may be nothing that can be done if all the factors mentioned apply.
