Good Afternoon. I currently use my personal vehicle ( stated above) for business purposes during the day. I was wondering about the applicable mileage rate I should be getting as my employer currently pays 45 cents per km. This seems a little cheap after searching this site. Any advice

It's always difficult to determine the actual running cost of a vehicle of this age. We calculate the running cost of vehicles at the third year of age where depreciation is a major component. A seven year old vehicle has already depreciated to a great extent, so the cost of running will be less.
We would calculate this car to be 64.2c per km at the third year, so the 45c your employer is paying you may not be too far out of kilter. Having said that, any negotiation between employer and employee can be whatever the parties agree upon, so it's up to you to negotiate with your employer if you don't believe you're being paid enough.
