Hi, Just wondering if it is possible to tune an engine to use a lower octane fuel. I.E I'm looking at a nissan teana and would want to change to 91 fuel. Is this possible?

Thanks

If you are referring to the 3.5L then yes you need to use the high octane fuel (95 or higher). The engine compression ratio is the main reason for this and cannot be changed.

Its the 2.3 jap inport. Is this the same?

According to our information the 2.3L Nissan Teana (VQ23DE motor) can run on the regular 91 octane fuel.

Thanks for the advice,
Just a few more questions.... How can I tell that the car i am looking at has this engine type and if it does, does that mean that i can fill and go on 91?

thanks

The 2.3L versions have this engine and it changed a few years ago to the 2.5L motors. You can use 91 octane for the 2.3L versions.

Hi, with a VQ23DE engine, are there any benefits to using higher octane? Do you know which octane is recommended by the manufacture?
