I recently applied for a name change to shorten an exotic name! My question is, do I need to replace my current driver's license once my name change is approved? Or can I simply bring with me a certified copy of my name change certificate without outright replacing my license?

According to NZTA, if you have formally changed your name you have relinquished the right to use your old name so you should get it changed on your licence.
