Good morning
I have been issued a parking ticket on a road leading to my daughters school.

The notice states I was stationery for 1 minute 36 seconds and I dispute this because I was in a line of traffic waiting to move forward at the intersection.
I did not park my car at any point as indicated in the notice, and at no point did I stop my car other than when waiting for the cars in front of me to move forward.

On the morning in question I did allow my daughter to exit the car whilst I was in the line of traffic and her action would of taken no more than 30 seconds and the traffic in front of me did not move in that time. As far as I aware it is not an offence to allow some one to leave a vehicle whilst waiting in a line of traffic.

Can you please advise me whether this is correct. I did pull over to the left as I was intending to turn left but when I saw there was a queue I let my daughter get out of my car, then turned right. There were 3 cars in front and it would of taking me the 1 min 36 to get to the intersection so I could turn.
Many thanks for your help.
Sue

You haven’t described the actual infringement, but presumably it is for stopping on a no parking zone or yellow lines. If, as you say, you remained in the traffic flow for the entire time, even if stationary, then you have grounds to appeal the ticket. You should write back to the ticket issuer and request photographic proof of the infringement (which they are required to provide when tickets are not issued on the spot). If the photo shows you in the line of traffic and not pulled off to the edge of the road then they should waive it (and should never have issued it) – email aatech@aa.co.nz if they don’t and you want more advice.
