I bought a less than 4 year old Toyota Corolla at Turners Auction. After a couple of days I noticed the grip handles (they call them assist grips in the manual) on both sides in the backseat are missing. That means there are only the sturdy steel bolts sticking out, which of course is very dangerous for backseat passengers and could lead to very serious head injuries. I was told by other car dealers Turners is a 100% responsible and is not allowed to sell the car with such grave problems and has to make sure the problem is rectified. Of course I contacted Turners, but amazingly they refused to accept any responsibility. What's best way to make sure Turners is paying for their fault. Thanks for some advice, Tom

Hi there,
You will need to establish if you have cover under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
Turners state if the sales agreement card states the car is purchased from a seller "in trade" then the CGA will not apply. So you will need to establish if your purchase was made from a private seller or a trader.
There is also information and the claims process to follow, here: https://www.turners.co.nz/Consumer-Law-Information/
If you still have no joy, and you think they are responsible under the CGA, you may need to seek resolution in a disputes tribunal.
