Hi. We are looking at purchasing a Renault Master Van which has the rather strange automatic/manual gearbox. They are "different" to use than say a Japanese "auto" and will take a little while to get used to. They seem to be a bit rougher/clunky or not as smooth.
I have done some google search's and there seem to be some sad stories out there (mainly Australia) about these gearboxes and their longevity. But the Renault range of Vans is highly popular in Europe, so maybe it is not all bad.
Any experience or advice on these vans/gearbox would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Gary,
Yes Renault is not really known here as much as Europe and they might also have more of a manual transmission usage. But in general these European transmissions can be a bit problematic and costly to repair when compared to conventional Japanese ones. I don't specifically have horror Renault transmission stories, but I guess they can be a bit niche too.
