I had tow my car to the garage this morning. The mechanic told me radiator has crack on the top and beneath. He gave me 2 options repair or replacement. He recommended repair. 580+GST or 710+GST. My car is Mitsubishi Airtrek 2001, 24VS.
What is your expert advice please?

If these prices have labour included then you should run with the new radiator, all the parts of the new radiator will be new and it should last another, hopefully, ten years or so. Also ensure they flush out the cooling system and replace the antifreeze.

According to the receipt, the mechanic has done all you mentioned above. But coolant colour in the plastic bottle very much looks like water. I've seen green and pink but not water colour of antifreeze. I am now having doubt whether they put antifreeze or just water!! I will call them on Tuesday to double check.

Coolant normally has a distinct colour (blue, green, red, etc.). I would question this.
