I would like to improve the suspension on my 04 BA fairmont in the future . Keeping the standard shock springs and shocks, would fitting aftermarket "thicker " sway bars improve cornering ?.
Or would fitting shock absorbers like Monroe GT Gas shocks, using the standard springs be the best option ? .

A thicker sway bar will marginally reduce the amount of body roll during cornering but whether you will notice this difference is debatable. Conventional oil shocks suffer when they are worked extremely hard for a prolonged period due to the oil getting hot and mixing with the air. This causes the oil to foam and makes it more compressible. Gas shocks reduce this effect and react better under these conditions. Good shocks are always a must, if you feel your shocks are not up to the task then you should replace them.
