I have a 1990 Nissan Navara king cab ute with a broken tail light. By checking on line I have located several tail lights ranging in price from $140 for a Nissan packaged tail light through to $50 for a generic model made in China. Now the China model does not appear to have the code numbers on the bottom of the light like the original one does. I gained the impression that those numbers were necessary if the tail light was suitable for warent of fitness standard. Can you please confirm?

All lights are required to have a standard marked on them. I strongly advise you to rather buy a standard approved tail light.
