My Holden Cruze drips water from the seam in the end of the muffler. My Holden dealer says this is a common thing in modern cars and is caused by short runs and the cooler weather. Is this correct in your opinion ?

Hi Bob. Yes, this is correct. In cold weather condensation builds up inside the muffler, which will blow out or dissipate when the exhaust gets hot and the car is given a decent run. In cars that only do relatively short, cold running the moisture is retained in the muffler.
It's not uncommon to see rusted mufflers on cars that have done a very low mileage, when higher mileage cars that have done a lot of hot running can often get longer life out of a muffler.
