I am planning to buy a Delica D5. It has CVT gear box. Would like to know how reliable this gear box is plus is it costly to maintain.
To be completely honest, we don't have a great deal of experience with the Delica D5 as they are a little unusual in New Zealand.
However, our understanding is that the running gear is from the Outlander which has a very good reputation for reliability. As CVTs go, the Mitsubishi one seems to be one of the best and we don't hear of many failures.
If the engine is a GDi, that would be a concern, but from information I have, I don't believe that many of these had the GDi engine.
General maintenance should not be an issue - just in keeping with other vehicles of this type, although fuel economy may be a little on the high side. But again, in keeping with other vehicles of a similar type.
Thanks
