I'm looking at buying a 2009 diesel X trail and wondering if these are proving to be as reliable as their petrol equivalents? I generally have heard only favorable reports about X trails but would appreciate hearing firsthand your thoughts. These don't have the CVT transmission that I had heard can cause problems? Thanks. The X-Trail diesel enjoys a good reputation for reliability. They use a traditional 6 speed automatic trans, not a CVT as the CVT isn't well suited to handle the torque of the diesel.
We'd have no hesitation in recommending a diesel X-Trail.
