I have owned the car for two years and have it serviced regularly by a registered dealer. The mileage is 112,000km. During these services there has never been any mention of replacing or inspecting the cam belt. I am aware that it is something that needs to be attended to but would like some idea on when this should be undertaken and how often as I obviously do not wish to front up to the garage and be at their mercies. Any guidance appreciated.

For cars with a cambelt, the manufacturer usually recommends changing the belt at 100,000km or 5 years, whichever comes first. The cost to do this job properly can range from around $500 to $1000, depending on the car.
But it's good news for you! Your Nissan Pulsar does not have a cambelt. It has a chain which does not need to be changed, so nothing to worry about.

That is great to hear, thank you so much for the reply.
