Hi - I have taken my vehicle to two different firms for repairs and both companies didn't put their hourly rate for labour on the paperwork when I paid. Shouldn't this be mandatory? I can remember always getting an itemised account with hrly rate and no. of hrs worked on it. Is this practice no longer in vogue?
When I have more than one job done to my vehicle, it is always handy to know the cost of each. The way accounts are presented (as a whole) I'm not sure how long each job took, and therefore how much it cost for each.
Of course, I could easily ask for what I want next time. But I thought I'd present this experience to you and find out if it is widespread or not.
Thanks, Greg

This isn't mandatory but the invoice should have the name of the supplier (dealer), the date the invoice was issued and the description of goods and services supplied.

Different dealers use different methods and systems for invoicing the work and some still show the hourly rate but this isn't standard practise.

You should request the dealer give you a detailed invoice which includes the labour rate and a breakdown of the labour allocation.
