Are there any major problems with the transmission in xtrails? Are they a good reliable wagon?

The Nissan X-Trail up to 2006 year models, with a conventional automatic transmission, has a good reputation for reliability. In 2007 the conventional automatic was replaced with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and early CVTs did not share the same reputation however we are told they have improved over the years so if you are buying a fairly new vehicle then we expect that it will have a better reputation for reliability. The Nissan X-Trail is a good vehicle to consider but you should look for a vehicle with a good traceable service record.

Great thank you. It's a 2001 model I'm looking at.
