Hi there, looks as though our catalytic converter needs replacing, we have been quoted over $3000 for this, does this sound right, thats a lot of money...... vehicle is a 2006 Holden Adventurer V6

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cost. However, assuming it has been correctly diagnosed and this is the problem, there may be a cheaper after-market solution.
You could try The Clean Air Company who I believe carry a wide range of catylitic converters.
