Hi, My 1.5l VTEC CVT 5 dr hatch, has just started the CVT shudder on take off (first I have ever heard of this problem was a few days ago) Car has done just over 50,000kms, and just turned 6 y.o. (reg 27/9/07). It is off to Honda on Monday but I would like to be prepared for what they say will need to be done whose cost, which I expect will be significant. Bought and serviced at Honda Newmarket - all as scheduled, CVT oil changed at 40K.
I find it apalling that a very well maintained car from a reliable company could face such catastrophic failure. Are Honda still standing behind this sort of CVTfailure? I heard they were replacing up to 7 years old. I will pursue under Consumer G'tees Act if I have a reasonable case. (this was my second Jazz I bought new from the dealer too).

Many thanks

Honda have been standing behind cars with this issue under some circumstances; ie, if you are the first owner, the car has travelled a low mileage, you have always serviced it with one of their dealers and are a loyal Honda buyer.
You would seem to meet this criteria, so although the car is 6 1/2 years old, they may still consider it for some out of warranty goodwill assistance and I would certainly be requesting assistance from Honda if I were in your position.
Good luck with your request, please let us know how you get on.

Very pleased to advise that Honda has a specific process for this fault and are standing behind the Jazz. No grief whatsoever and they will fix as necessary for me, anyway. Restored my faith in Honda that is for sure
