Hi
My friend is considering purchasing a 2005 Honda Fit which has done 77000 km. it seems really good but after looking on the internet people are commenting that the CVT transmission is a bit of an issue. How big an issue is this ? Is there any way that it can be checked prior to purchase.

The CVT transmissions on the Fit/Jazz have a poor reputation - my advice is stay well clear of it. The 2009 model Honda Jazz with a conventional automatic transmission is a better choice. Honda decided to go back to the conventional automatic transmission to the end of 2008.

The CVT transmission could be in good running condition at the time of an inspection but nobody has a crystal ball to see when it will fail.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and comments. They have now decided not to proceed with the purchase.
Thanks again.
