I have to jump-start the car each day, even though the battery is fairly new.
Why is this?

It could be a number of things. Most likely a faulty alternator or some problem in the charging system, but could be a current draw (perhaps boot light or something staying on), a fault in the wiring or even the new battery may be faulty.
You need to have it checked out by an auto-electrician or mechanic.
