Hi there,
I considering purchasing a Kia Sportage, around 2006. I was wondering about parts availability as this style of Sportage was only produced between 2005 and 2009, and there are very few of them around (when compared to the equivalent Hyundai Tucson and Rav4 models).

Will it be difficult/expensive to source parts for this style of Sportage when compared to the Tucson and Rav4? Not only engine and mechanical parts, but also panels/bumpers/wing mirrors etc? Will it be more expensive to source these Sportage parts in 5yrs and 10yrs time compared to the Tucson and Rav4?

Thanks

There can be question marks around whether parts availability will be plentiful in the future for models produced in small volumes. However, Kia is now well represented in New Zealand so this should not be a major issue in the short/medium term.
Regarding panels, bumpers etc, as long as you are insured, these components will generally be the responsibility of the insurance company to source.
However, it's a safe bet that in 10 years time there will be more 2006 RAV4s in wrecking yards to source second hand parts from than 2006 Sportages.
