Hi, I am thinking of upgrading my Pulsar to a 2012 Suzuki Swift but have been advised against this. As parts are hard to source and that I should consider a Toyota. Can you advise if this is correct please.

We are not aware of any parts supply problems for the Swift, which is one of the biggest selling single models in New Zealand.
The Swift has been the number 1 selling car in its segment for many years and I'd have no hesitation in recommending one. Toyotas are good too, but it's a case of personal preference.
Don't be put off buying a Swift due to parts availability, which is as good as anything else - probably better than many.
