I got my car about 10 months ago and it was going fine only had 130,000kms on it, until i heard this disturbing noise, i took it to a mechanic but he said to take it into nissan so i did that, and they said its something like the hydraulic tension timer, and it was going to cost me $6000 to get it fixed. I was looking at other solutions maybe a whole new engine, my question is: what engines could possibly fit into my car and if there are other engines better/faster then the one I have in there at the moment?

Thank You all help much appreciated.

Once you start getting into repowering with more powerful engines etc, you need to have the modification overseen, approved and signed off by a Low Volume Vehicle Certifier/Engineer. Personally, on a car such as this, I don't think it would be worth the expense and hassle. I can see it costing a lot more than replacing the engine with a second hand engine similar to the current unit.
