Hi I have over filled the oil. Possibly by a litre or more.
What will this do. will it just burn off or do i need to drain some oil.

Also tips re checking oil and oil change.
i.e shoud engine be warm to check or cold.
Should engine be warm or cold to fill.
If needs t be warm how long does engine need to have run for.

It would be advisable to drain 1 litre.
It doesn't really matter whether the engine is hot or cold to check the oil, but the vehicle should be parked on a level surface and left to stand for a minute or two after the engine is turned off to let any oil drain back to the sump.
It doesn't matter whether the engine is hot or cold when you top up either.
