Dear advisor,

I have a battery (maintenance-free, rated at 430 CCA) that is 8+ years old. It was recently tested as producing 445CCA. The printout says "good battery". May I know if the battery could still fail without warning? Or would it show symptoms such as taking longer to start the car?

Thanks very much :)

Eight years is very good life from a battery and while yours is still performaing well, there are no guarantees that it won't fail without warning.
There are various ways a battery can fail, some of which mean that the battery becomes weak and displays the symptoms you refer to (ie; sluggish starting etc), but other times, an internal fault can occur whereby, without warning, it just fails to operate.
