Hi, i have a 1996 toyota corolla Manual. iv had the car for almost a year now and the old owner said he had the clutch changed before selling it but just recently the gear shifts have gotten quiet hard and sometimes it has to be forced into gear would anyone know what would be causing it? some days it works fine and shifts are smooth other days its not. also sometimes when i try to shift out of first it wont let me get out of gear unless i force it very hard. when i do press the clutch i hear a very high pitched noise coming from the gearbox.

Hi there,
It sounds to me like the clutch hydraulic system may need looking at. You may need a new master or slave cylinders. Gearbox noise could be a multitude of things.
However I would get it looked at before it gets serious, or fails all together.
