Hi
I am looking at buying a 2004 to 2006 toyota isis with the 1800 VVT-i motor.
I have read that the toyota vvt-i motors have had a reputation for burning oil.
Does the problem still exist from 2004 motors on-wards?
Also are there any quirks with the ISIS wagon in general?
Thanks
Peter

Hi there,
This vehicle is not one we have a lot of information or questions about.
Looking at the engines available, the 1.8 is definately my pick. I think the engines are ok, if looked after and regular services have been carried out. I see no reason for them to smoke prematurely,

Many thanks.
The oil consumption problem with the vvt-i 1800 engine was apparently related to a design shortcoming and not so much to neglect.
I think it tended to become an issue after about 50,000K. From what I can find on the subject it came down to piston ring size or fit and was sorted by Toyota after about 2003?
How accurate this data is, I do not know.
