I have a 2006 Holden S Ute that has just clicked over 144,00km. Someone has mentioned to me that the timing chains are known to stretch in them and this is costly. At this stage as far as I know it is all fine. So when do I have to worry about it. I have previously owned three Nissans, all chain driven, one was driven over 300,000km, one at 244,000km and I also own a Primera (which I am currently selling) and that has just clicked over 141,000km). I had no issues with the chains when they were sold and the current one is running well. So is this is a major thing I have worry about in my Holden?

Hi there,
I havn't heard that this is all that common for the V6 Holden engine. But it is always a possibility with any chain driven engine, they shouldn't do it, but some do.
If it runs well, and is not noisey from the chain area on start-up, I see no reason for it not to last.
