Toyota, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Subaru, Suzuki, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Holden and Mercedes-Benz will compete in eight different categories, ranging from micro to large-lifestyle vehicles, for the title of the most fuel efficient vehicle in each class.

The 2010 AA ENERGYWISE Rally will take place 11-14 October and competitors will drive 1,780 kilometres around the North Island promoting fuel efficient vehicles and fuel efficient driving techniques.

The Supreme Award, for the car that cost the least to complete the Rally, including fuel and road user charges, went to the new hybrid vehicle, the Honda Insight S, costing just $147.83 to cover the distance.
