Overseas Visitors & AA Members Travelling Internationally

Can AA Members access roadside assistance overseas?

AA Membership gives you access to basic roadside assistance from many motoring clubs overseas that are affiliated with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile).

What do you need to do?

You will usually need to present your AA Membership card and, if it does not show an expiry date, a confirmation letter. In some cases the overseas club may contact AA New Zealand to verify your membership.

Please note: The FIA website is not managed by AA New Zealand. The entitled services and required verification processes vary by country. We recommend that you contact the local motoring club in their destination country before or upon arrival to confirm:

  • What services are available.
  • Required documentation.
  • Any charges.

How does AA support visitors from overseas affiliated clubs?

If you are an Overseas Club Member visiting New Zealand and staying for less than six months, we will set you up as an Overseas Club Member and issue you a temporary Membership card.

If you intend to stay in New Zealand for more than six months, you will need to transfer your Membership to NZAA.

What do you need to do?

Bring the following to one of the nationwide AA Centre locations:

  • Your club Membership card.
  • A letter confirming your current Membership status (if your Membership card has no expiry date printed on it).
