What inspired you to become a driving instructor?

I am a qualified coach for both football and squash and a motor engineer by trade, a back injury stopped all of that. With skills for coaching one on one and a good knowledge of how a car works I literally fell into being a driving instructor.

What do you enjoy about your role the most?

I get a huge satisfaction from seeing someone achieve something they thought they couldn't do. I like the challenge of teaching different people as everyone has their own way of learning, finding that key is enjoyable.

Why did you choose the AA?

The AA has a nationwide network and is the biggest driving school in New Zealand.

What locations do you cover?

Avonhead, Bishopdale, Bryndwr, Burnside, Ilam, Fendalton, Harewood, Merivale, Papanui, Riccarton, St Albans, Strowan, Upper Riccarton.

What inspired you to become a driving instructor?

I thought about the role for some time and was attracted to the lifestyle and opportunity of building up my own business so I decided that it was time to leave my job to help drivers become empowered to be the best drivers that they can be. I have spent a number of years working directly with people, including young adults, helping them to set achievable goals and to encourage people to believe that all things are possible. I'm passionate about seeing people become confident and considerate drivers, to reduce accidents and deaths on NZ roads. My wife's mother was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident so there is some deep empathy and passion to help teach people to drive confidently, safely and take ownership of their driving.

What do you enjoy about your role the most?

I really enjoy building up people to believe that they can reach their goals and aspirations in a positive and realistic way.

Why did you choose the AA?

I chose AA because the name is trustworthy and reliable and well known in New Zealand as a reputable organisation which is really important for me to be associated with.

What locations do you cover?

Lyttelton, Sumner, Wigram, Spreydon, Sydenham, Hillsborough.
