Considering purchasing a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer for around $2500. Travelled 232,000 km. N.Z. New. Automatic.
Anything I should check for?
Thank you
Any car which has travelled over 200K's is something of a risk although a past and proven service history can help provide some peace of mind.
There is nothing overly complicated about the Lancer of this age which is a positive more than a negative when buying into your price range.
Make sure you ask for a new Warrant of Fitness (not more than a month old) if you decide to purchase and while it does add cost, a pre purchase inspection is advisable.
The WoF will give the car a thorough safety check while a pre purchase inspection should highlight any major mechanical issues with the engine, transmission and driveline.
Thank you very much. It has a new WOF. Going for a test drive tonight. Will keep in mind pre purchas check.
Regards
Bill
