Free battery checks for AA Members ​

Don’t get stuck with a flat battery in the colder months. AA Members can get a free call out in most cities around NZ in June and July. Give us a call to check availability and have your 12-volt battery checked today. (T&Cs apply)

What happens when you have a battery related emergency?

When you call us we will ask you about your car and location before dispatching a Roadservice or Battery Service officer to help you. They will test your battery and recommend what is best to get you back on the road – a new battery, a jumpstart or another service.

If you are an AA Member:

  • The call-out is free (T&Cs apply)
  • You get a $25 discount if you buy a battery
  • You get a $10 rebate on your old battery which we can take away for recycling

If you are not an AA Member:

  • The call-out fee is $100
  • The call-out is free if you buy an AA battery

AA batteries are covered up to a three year nationwide warranty (T&Cs apply). All our Roadservice and Battery Service officers have Eftpos for payments.

The cost of a battery varies depending on the car make and model. Our call centre staff and Roadservice / Battery Service officers can advise you of the cost.

*Terms and conditions for Winter Battery Checks​

  • Winter battery checks are dependent on availability of AA Roadservice / AA Battery Serviceofficers in the area that you live in. Checks are currently available in Whangarei, Auckland,Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga, Whanganui, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Hastings,Napier, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin. Please confirm availability when you call us.​
  • Winter battery checks requested by AA Members during the campaign period of 1 June 2026 to 31 July 2026 will be processed as standard callouts and will come out of the AAMember’s yearly callout allowance.​
  • Winter battery check requests are for 12V car batteries only and cannot be booked. Theyare processed on-demand. Please confirm availability when you call us.
