Hi
I’m looking at buying a second-hand Toyota Corolla (GX) hatchback. There are two I have looked at that fit my budget etc, so my next step is to pick the ‘best’ one to take for an AA inspection, and if inspection is fine, I will buy it. I was hoping you might have some advice on which one would be the ‘best’ to get tested. Both are NZ New, almost exactly the same price. I have got ‘carjam’ reports for both. The first is a 2015 model with just over 30,000kms on the clock. It’s had four owners (including the MTA car dealer who owns it now). It failed it’s last 2 warrants but whatever was wrong with it, I’m assuming was a little thing as both times was re-checked and passed on the same day? The ad says it has passed its ‘re-registered check’, there’s nothing in the carjam report, so does this mean it hasn’t been de-registered then re-registered? The second is a 2017, slightly higher kms (nearly mid 30’s), the only owner was Avis. I’m a bit worried because it was a rental, but have heard that these days they can be quite good? Is this a better bet than the slightly older car which has changed hands after 7 months, then again after 4 days, then again after 2 years?
Thanks

Hi there,
We would generally recommend getting the newest car for your budget as this ensures you are receiving the latest in technology and safety items you can. Higher km's quickly will affect a car less than age over time would. Rental cars might have a few bumps and scrapes, but should have been maintained well.
