Hi guys/gals. I am currently looking for a good sized sedan and now leaning towards the 320i M sport version. With that being said, I am also discouraged by what some forums say about the BMW 320i M sport as far as reliability. I really dont want to spend a lot of money going back and forth to the mechanic. Does anyone have first hand experience with the 320i standard or M sport version in terms of reliability ?? if yes what has been your experience , has reliability improved???

Hi there,
I think the stigma applies to most European cars as they age, they seem to be more susceptible to issues that cost a bit of money to repair as they get older (typically after 10 years). Typically in cooling system, electrical switches/sensors and basically anything plastic or rubber gets brittle and can break/leak. However specifically BMW that has an electric water pump and thermostats attached, they look to need replacement at around 80k. My 2011 X3 335i did, but on the bright side they have great and generally reliable engines and transmissions. My brother gave up on his slightly older 320i as he was always fixing little things.
