Hi there,

I’m looking for a station wagon/MPV size vehicle (number of seats doesn’t matter), currently choosing among Wish (2007-2008), Stream (2008-2009) and Fielder (2011 but with higher kms). Do you have any advice?

The Fielder has CVT transmission. Are there known problems with Fielder CVTs of this age?

Also these models seem to have the same safety features (2 airbags plus ABS) but very different safety ratings (2 stars for Fielder, 4 for Wish and 5 for Stream). Why is that?

Hi there,
We've not heard of many issues with the Toyota CVT in the Fielder.
Used car safety ratings are given based on police reported crashes and how the driver faired in the crashes in Australia and NZ. I recommend buying the safest car for your budget. There is also very limited information available for Japanese imports but they seem to be fairly cheap to maintain and repair when compared to European vehicles of similar ages and size.
