Ford Service North Shore Failed by WOF because L/H Rear Fog light lens broken.
There is a crack on the outer plastic cover of the light which has been there for at least 3 years, and has passed Ford WOF check at least twice maybe 3 times previously. The crack does not interfere with the function of the light, nor am I likely to be driving in foggy conditions. Is this a fair reason to reject my WOF? There is no other fault on my 2013 Kuga, and I think this a petty fault which which would cause no danger to anyone on the road.
Could I take the car to AA for second opinion and pay for new WOF? What is your advice to me, Thanks Jamie

Hi there,
You are welcome to take it to AA Wairau for a second opinion.
The presence of a crack in itself may not be cause of a fail according to my interpretation of the rule- as it says below 'crack or other damage that allows moisture or dirt to enter'
All WoF sites follow the same rules, which say it's a fail if the following are true.
Condition (Note 3)
5. A lamp is insecure or contains moisture in the form of large droplets, runs or puddles .
6. A lens is missing, or has a hole, crack or other damage that allows moisture or dirt to enter.
7. A reflector is damaged or has deteriorated so that light output is reduced.
8. A fog lamp warning device, if fitted, is obscured from the driver’s vision.
