Dear Sirs, I am looking to buy a used 2010 to 2012 hybrid toyota estima with around 100k on the clock. I already have a hybrid corolla. I am aware that with an EV one should review the SOH of the battery. Does the same apply to a hybrid? If so how does one do that?
Are there any issues with a hybrid in terms of towing a trailer?
I have heard that the cost to install a towbar is now in the $1500+ range. Correct?
Should a hybrid run on 91 or premium? Currently running my corolla on 91.
Sorry for all the questions. Thx- Bill Mallett

Hi there,
The Estima is a Japanese domestic import and so unfortunately there will be no towing or fuel spec information available.
However it is best to have the hybrid battery SOH checked as if it degraded significantly you may not be able to get a replacement unless it came from a crashed vehicle or a special import from Japan. Either Toyota or a EV/Hybrid battery specialist would be best to have a battery test carried out before purchase.
The cost of a tow bar would depend on who builds it as there are many aftermarket tow bar manufacturers, the price is not standardized.
