Hi there, my car died yesterday so I'm in a bit of a pinch looking for one before Christmas!

My reasons for looking at Toyota Aqua were environmental and fuel saving, but also to be able to make road trips and reasonably powerful engine. Then my friend mentioned that the Yaris and other full petrol Toyota's can have equally good fuel consumption, and I'm not 100% sure how to gauge the environmental cost/benefits.

Also this Aqua 2012 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/toyota/aqua/listing/3388297693?bof=vskNojDf
And this one 2013 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/toyota/aqua/listing/3388297967?bof=vskNojDf

Other options I was thinking of... to go cheaper and older.... Toyota Wish https://www.2cheapcars.co.nz/used-vehicles/toyota/wish/81572 and Blade https://www.upperhuttcarsales.co.nz/vehicle/2007-Toyota-Blade/14320?s=1 if I wasn't going to go Hybrid. Do these look like reasonable options?

Hi the Aqua is a great Hybrid vehicle that is very economical if the majority of your driving is around town its a good choice.

If you need extra space the Wish or even Honda Stream are also good options particularly the 1.8L variants. The Blade with its 2.4L engine may be a touch thirsty though.

If you are considering purchasing one of these models have it checked out with and AA PPI to ensure it is a sound choice.

Between those aqua choices, which would you recommend?

Also how would you gauge the cost -benefit ratio of aqua vs similar sized non-hybrid Yaris when it comes to fuel use? Ie is the hybrid option redundant if a similar sized petrol engine car (which is also cheaper) uses similar /100km fuel?

Thanks!
