I am considering buying a Holden Commodore SV6 VE, 2008 or 2009.
Do you know of any common problems that I should be looking out for? If I buy one with 100k on the clock, should I expect it to last another 100k without major issues? What is a reasonable life time for a car like this? Can you suggest other (perhaps better) models I should also be looking at?
Thanks for your help!

There are definitely no guarantees you would get another 100K of trouble free motoring as Im sure even the most loyal Holden owners don’t expect their vehicles to be fault free for that long.

Holden has never won many (if any) customer satisfaction awards based on owning a trouble free motor car. The Commodore does a good job however for many, especially if you want to tow (rear wheel drive) and don't wont to own a 4WD.

The popularity of these vehicles is starting to drop as many buyers move more towards SUV/People Mover type vehicles which can be a good thing for buyers as prices are often very negotiable.

Electrical/electronic problems are not unusual with these vehicles.

Suggest you do some comparisons with the Honda Accord Euro, Mazda6 or the Toyota Aurion/ Camry.
