I'm in the process of buying a second hand car and asked the seller to have a AA Pre Purchase Inspection done.

The report emailed from AA to me seems to be all good.

The WoF of the vehicle is more than 1 month old. The seller's opinion is that the pre purchase report is more detailed and thorough than a WoF and having it done now would only shorten the next warrant by 2 months (warrant due in May 2010).

What are your thoughts about this?

By law, the vehicle must have a WoF not more than 1 month old at the time of sale and as a buyer it is an extra piece of mind I would be insisting on.

If the seller really wants to sell the car they should not argue about a new WoF.

When buying privately you can never make too many double checks to ensure the car is not going to spring some unpleasant surprises in the near future.

A WoF is a legal requirement which you would need to acknowledge in writing you were overriding, as part of the buying process.

Assume nothing Peter and insist on a new WoF in my opinion.
