Hi -- I know you warned me off fuel injection in my search for a family station wagon, due to cost of maintenance, but I wanted to still get your thoughts about a Beams engine with a VVTI fuel injection system (I hope I'm getting that right!) in an otherwise appealing car? (Toyota Caldina GT, year 2000, 130,000k, 2000cc).

Thanks!
Hoping to have this whole car-buying thing sewn up for another decade soon! ;-)

No, we'd never advise against fuel injection - that would exclude every car made in the last 20 years or so. I suspect you mean some of the direct injection engines such as the Mitsubishi GDI and Toyota D4.
To our knowledge, none of the BEAMS engines were D4. A 2000 Caldina with only 130,000km should be a good reliable model.
